Folding Traditional Japanese Furoshiki

by Lesley Roberts

The art of folding furoshiki is simple - the cloth becomes a nest for whatever goodies you've picked up during the day. We like the idea of using and re-using an object for so many purposes - yes it's sustainable, and that makes us feel better than using plastic, but it's also personal. Our furoshiki have picked up the "patina" of all the uses we've put it to - it feels like ours. We especially like the pretty fabrics, and relish every chance we get to show it off.

We'll be posting more ideas for folding your furoshiki here over the next days and weeks, and we'd enjoy hearing how you use yours. Send photos, too! We'll post them here and to our facebook page.
