Jonas & Muse: A Quick Peek

by Akogare Trading Co

We hope you're one of the lucky few joining us at a Jonas & Muse jewelry workshop –although the late April event is sold out, there are still a few spots left in June. We're thrilled to have an opportunity to learn how the magic of their work comes together. In the run-up to the class, we thought we'd share some background on these phenomenal women!

It's singularly appropriate that the "about us" photo on their website features heaps of knockout necklaces, a passport, and an issue of Vogue. Liz and Christine Jonas, the dynamic mother-and-daughter team behind the brand, are nothing if not world travelers and fashionistas of the best kind.

When Liz describes the brand as a "a creative lifestyle company" she speaks the truth of her own life and lifestyle. Whirlwinds of creative and feminine power, Liz and Christine joined forces to evolve Jonas & Muse from a creative hobby to a full-blown career. Their work feeds on their natural wandering ways – even the briefest skims through the brand's Instagram feed reveals their globetrotting ways! Each stop is an adventure and a new source for raw materials and inspiration.

In their own words, "Each corner of the world has its own treasures, allowing us work with unique and rich stones, metals, medallions, shells, cords, pendants, bones and stories."

Perhaps best of all, "stories" hints at what makes a Jonas & Muse piece so remarkable – something about the stones and beads themselves, and the way the cords and pendants come together, provokes a response in the wearer and the viewer, something that tells a history. (More appropriately a her-story, but that's another post!)

As part of paying respects to the places they go and the people they meet, Liz and Christine sponsor local foundations such as Operation Mobilization, Free Wheelchair mission, Basha, and Freedom Climb for trafficked women and children.
